I purchased my first
CARVIN
Bass Amp, a PB30O, in 1993. I was
totally impressed being able to divide the amp into two separate EQ's;
one for Arco work, the other for Jazz pizzicato, via a footswitch.
This opened up my Arco solo expression, without having to fool with amp
settings on stage in the middle of a song. A new freedom!
I thought I had found the epitome of Bass Amps until one night my PB300
fell off the hand cart, onto a rock, smashing 7 "pots" on the front amp
panel. I called CARVIN
in San Diego, and was taken under wing by Carlos Elorza from sales.
Carlos arranged with Service for me to immediately drive the amp down,
in person, to the factory for repair, as I had a concert with Conte
Condoli the next night.
When I arrived at
CARVIN,
Carlos introduced me to Dave Flores, artist and media relations, who
just happened to be an avid fan of my band, The "Cosmic Brotherhood."
I had my string bass in the car and Dave and Carlos were excited about
the performance of acoustic bass through the new "RED EYE" RC2 10 bass
amp.
We were totally amazed when I started playing through the RC2IO by the
extreme clarity and instant response the amp produced with absolutely
"NO" IM distortion; in all registers, Arco and Pizz, double stops
included.
The new additions added to the RC21O over the PB300 are astounding; 9
graphic EQ, pre shaped EQ, electronic crossover, bi-amp/full range
select, tube blend, tuned RC2 10 cabinet punched out cannon low notes,
extensive array of speaker and bi-amp speaker options, graphics
EQ/effects loop, pre-amp out jacks, direct xlr output, 600/1000 watts
power, passive/active inputs, and improved noise gate and compressor,
all allow for performing and studio recording potentials beyond
description. An "on the road" studio!
One of my favorite features is the "tilt-back" cabinet design. Finally,
"HEAR" yourself on stage! Total 'back row' definition and projection
throughout night club, concert hall, or outdoor stadium venues. "True!
Cutting Edge, Acoustic Bass Amplification."
